Ways to Make Your Wedding Day Extra Memorable

We have seen so many inventive ways that couples make their day extra special. One of our favorites is the Tequila Donkey or the Beer Burro.

Originating in Mexico, couples would traditionally take a parade-style walk with their friends and family to the church and wear a shot glass made for tequila or mescal around their necks. A donkey would walk with the wedding party, carry mescal, tequila and limes in its saddle bag and offer a pre-wedding toast.

The tradition has been adopted in America, especially the southwest, where festively dressed tequila donkeys and beer burros are an unforgettable addition to any wedding celebration.

We’ve seen a lot of variety on this theme. The donkeys always are always accompanied by their handlers and a licensed bartender– if the animal is serving shots. At Blame Her Ranch we love animals and want to reassure you, donkeys are not only social but get plenty of rewards for a successful night of bartending.

Another favorite memorable experience is the Food Truck Ending.

Food trucks are a way to offer late-night guests a midnight snack or a special dessert. Both Santa Fe and Albuquerque have a good selection of food trucks. Be sure to make the food special and a fun one-item treat that is memorable to you. Maybe something tied to the history of your relationship?

Here are a few ideas:

Freezie Fresh:

Rolled Ice Cream—Amazing local flavors like salted caramel with red chile and pinon coffee, yum!

With Love Waffles:

An Albuquerque-based Food Truck that specializes in over-the-top dessert-style waffles and “wafflewiches.”

What the Truck:

Beautiful food and lots of options for vegetarians and vegans.
